Licenses
To fish any water in the Ballinderry area you will need a Rod Licence.
There are two types of Rod Licence:
• Game (salmon, sea trout, brown trout & rainbow trout)
• Coarse
TYPES OF LICENSES AVAILABLE
There are several types of license available:
• Season Game fishing rod license (also available for Coarse fish)
• 14 day Game fishing rod license (also available for Coarse fish)
• 3 day Game fishing rod license (also available for Coarse fish)
• Juvenile Game fishing rod license (also available for Coarse fish)
• Concessionary Game fishing rod license (Senior Citizen & Disabled)
CONSESSIONS
Under 12’s do not require a rod license for angling,
unless more than one rod is being used.
Juvenile License – A concessionary license is available for 13 to 19 year olds.
Proof of age is required. An adult may certify the age of the juvenile.
Senior Citizens – Over 60’s may obtain a concessionary license.
Proof of age is required (e.g. passport, driving license)
Disabled Anglers – A concessionary license is available

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Rod Licenses for the Ballinderry area are issued
by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure.
A license issued by the Department is valid in any area of Northern Ireland,
except for the LONDONDERRY AND CARLINGFORD AREAS,
for which a Game Season License is obtainable from
the Foyle, Carlingford and Irish Lights Commission
The DCAL Rod Licence is issued subject to the provisions contained in the Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland) 1966 and in Byelaws made under that Act.
Be advised that the fisheries of the Ballinderry River and its tributaries are patrolled by Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure bailiffs and Ballinderry River Enhancement Association private water bailiffs.
Failure to produce a valid rod license, on request, will lead to the seizure of fishing equipment and prosecution.
